Cat Stuck In Sewer Found By Shelter Dog

Thanks to an intuitive shelter dog, a cat who was stuck in a sewer was found and rescued. The hero of the day is Leopard, a six-year-old Shar Pei mix who is a temporary resident at the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter in Valley View, Ohio.

Shelter staff took to Facebook on November 14, the day of the life-saving discovery, to share Leopard’s good deed with followers of the shelter’s page:

While Leopard was out on her walk this afternoon, she alerted the volunteer to the sound of crying in the sewer. Volunteers and deputies were able to retrieve the cat and all is well. The cat has now gone home to stay with one of our volunteers and Leopard (kennel 2) is a hero!!

Mindy Naticchioni, an administrator at the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter in Ohio, told Inside Edition, “Had Leopard not alerted us that something was going ok with the sewer, we may not have known the cat was even in there. Leopard is a hero.”

This heroic dog is still waiting for a hero of her own – she has been waiting for a family, and a home of her own, since May. According to the shelter, Leopard can be a bit “selective” with her furry-friends.
