Dog Neglected For Five Years Is Now Healing And Being Lavished With Love

Ironically, Tarquin’s owner’s decision to leave him at the local animal shelter may allow Tarquin to enjoy the rest of his life. Volunteers are hoping that such will be the case — because Tarquin’s past was not enjoyable.

Tarquin was obviously neglected for much of his life. He is a black Labrador retriever mix, and healthy, he would be a handsome dog. But years of neglect have caused his coat to be rough and there are patches where he has no fur. His eyes are swollen, and he struggles to see out at the world.

Yet at the shelter, when a volunteer approached his cage with a treat, Tarquin stood up and gently takes the treat. His tail wags when people visit, even though volunteers guess that he was never given any attention or love for years and years. They said,

“Someone took TARQUIN and put him in their back yard and basically just fed him. He is so neglected but so incredibly sweet.”

Although volunteers were worried about this gentle dog’s fate, Tarquin’s luck finally changed and he was taken to safety. Tarquin was pulled by a rescue and he is in foster care. Labradors and Friends is the rescue that saved Tarquin. May he have a happy and healthy future!

If you want to support the rescue of dogs like Tarquin, please support local rescue organizations. They are the ones who pull the dogs in danger, find them foster home, get them the medical care they need, raise money to support their efforts, and finally, work without pay, day and night, to save lives.
