Dog Walks 20 Miles To Find Her Family – TWICE!

The Humane Society in Seminole, Oklahoma, is currently home to a dog who loves her family so much that she walked 20 miles to find them.  Twice.

Cathleen, a six-year-old Great Py mix, had a family, but they moved and could not take her with them. They rehomed her with another family in Prague, a nearby town, a few months back, but, since then, she’s walked 20 miles and returned to her family in Seminole.   And she’s done it twice.

According to KOCO, the ACO at the shelter says,

“She’s very sweet, calm and docile.  She wants to be everybody’s friend.”

She always has a smile on her face, and, like all dogs, has so much love to give.  Cathleen was determined to give that love to her original family.  But it just wasn’t possible.

Fortunately, this extraordinarily loyal girl, who is described as a ‘love bug’, will be getting a new family.  The shelter reports that since her story aired,  they’ve had an abundance of applications from families opening up their hearts and homes to her.   Though they may not take the place of her first family, we hope Cathleen can open her own heart and adopt them too!

You can check out more adoptables from the Seminole Humane Society here!  Their adoption fees are very affordable.  And for more heartwarming stories, check out an episode of ShelterMe.tv like this one, where a shelter dog finds a new family.

Such a sad, poignant story, which shows just how special these wonderful companions truly are. Here’s hoping she finally adjusts to her new family.

What a gorgeous, loyal canine! In the photo, it appears her tongue has a blue marking, often a characteristic of a chow. Chows, Akitas, and other Spitz type mixes are the most dedicated and loyal dogs, that become uncompromisingly attached, especially to one person. This dog, Cathleen acts just like the dog depicted in the film with Richard Gere: Hachi: A Dog’s Tale. I recently lost my mix with a blue spotted tongue and was honored to share life with this formidable companion for 16 years, and miss him everyday. God bless this wonderful Cathleen and I hope she finds a wonderful home and companion to shelter her.

Glad she’s being adopted (IF she’ll stay there!!!) but I WISH people would make an effort to move to dog/cat-friendly homes/ apartments!!!
