Faithful Pit Bull Protected Boy From Masked Intruder

When a masked intruder broke into a Lincoln, Nebraska, home this week, nine-year-old Shane Shafer was understandably frightened…aside from his dogs, nobody else was home. The masked man stared at the boy as he approached, so young Shane called for back-up from his faithful friend, Baby Girl.

The protective pit bull knew just what to do – the boy told KLKN TV, “He started chasing me upstairs and I called my dog down and they started to fight when my dog got downstairs. The dude pulled the blinds down on my dog’s head and then ran away and shut the door.”

After the stranger bolted, Shane ran to a neighbor’s home and called his mom, who was away picking up her other kids from school. The boy commented on the frightening situation:

“It was in a blink of an eye and I was really scared, because, it was only me home and I didn’t know who it was and the only protection I had was my dogs.”

The Lincoln Police Department has not yet made an arrest. The intruder was reported to have fled in a silver car.

As for Baby Girl – she was rewarded for her bravery with a lollipop from Shane.

What a wonderful dog. So happy she protected the child. Thank goodness neither the boy or the dog was injured.
