Family Inspired To Make Beloved Cancer-Stricken Dog’s Last Months The Best They Can Be

A family in Pennsylvania is doing their utmost to ensure that their beloved dog, “Mr. Molson,” is enjoying each and every moment of what remains of his life. Mr. Molson is a 12-year-old golden retriever who was diagnosed with terminal cancer in March – a diagnosis that has hit his family, understandably, quite hard.

Mr. Molson shares his life with the Griffin family – owner, Tim, has created a website about his best canine friend. There, he wrote about what this special dog has meant to him:

Twelve years ago I was blessed with the best friend imaginable.  My buddy, Mr. Molson.  He has been with me through the highs and lows of life.  Dating, marriage, kids, college, divorce, custody battles, a new job, a new home, vacations, and much more.  Everyday for 12 years, he has been by my side sharing this journey of life.

When Griffin was given the news that Mr. Molson had just a few months left to live, he set out to make his four-legged friend’s last moments of life incredibly special – he wrote:

It is still unclear how much time he has or the quality of that time. However, we hope to show Molson the amount of love he has shown us these past 12 years.

Griffin and his kids decided to create a bucket list of activities and adventures for Mr. Molson…to date, many of those items have been checked off. The senior dog has enjoyed playtime in the snow, a beer with his dad, a dip in the hot tub, camping and an outdoor movie (Marley & Me, of course!) and more.

Bottom line – Mr. Molson is being completely and utterly spoiled by the ones who love him the most, and together, they are creating special memories to last a lifetime.

I wish all pet owners felt the same way about their pet family members. Maybe we wouldn’t have all the killing in shelters. Our pets deserve so much from us, yet they ask so little. Just to be loved and appreciated and taken care of till the very end.
