Homeless Shelter Dog Loves To Have Visitors And To Hear Stories

Chase is a handsome three-and-a-half-year-old dog who currently calls the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter in Wantagh, New York, “home.” Quite some time ago, Chase was taken in at the shelter after being picked up as a stray – from the beginning, the homeless pup showed signs that he was not a street dog…at some point in time, he had lived with a family.

In October 2016, the Facebook page for the shelter gushed about Chase’s many attributes:

There is something about Chase…! As soon as this dog came into the building, everyone was going crazy for him, and for good reason! Chase is extremely handsome, he is very well behaved in his crate, and he is 100% house trained. Not only that, but Chase is friendly and social with other dogs. Not only that, but Chase is gentle enough to be around younger kids!

Months have passed, but Chase is still lacking a family, and a home, of his own. Fortunately, this people-loving dog has visitors – visitors who Chase relishes time with. Chase especially adores visits from children who come to the shelter to read to the dogs, reported PupJournal. Shelter volunteer Danielle Guzzardo told PupJournal that Chase keeps his cool with the kids come to visit – after a bit of happy tail-wagging, he settles down for his story.

On April 7, several photos of Chase with one of his young visitors was posted to Chase’s own Facebook page (Chase Your Dreams), along with a few words about how amazing “shelter dogs” truly are:

Can you just take a second to look at these pictures? This adorable boy volunteered his time and came to the shelter to read to Chase. These are some of the sweetest pictures I’ve ever seen. These pictures make you realize that “shelter dogs” are amazing, wonderful souls who belong in a home. They do not belong in the confines of a shelter.
Chase does not need to have a lavish lifestyle. He doesn’t need to live in a fancy home or have a large family. He needs one person to step up-someone to BE his family. Someone to love him. Whomever adopts Chase will receive that love back tenfold.

Chase has his very own social media account, and volunteers who adore him, but he is missing the one thing that he needs the most – a family of his very own.
