Life Is Grand For Dog Who Spent 15 Years On A Chain

Life is grand for a senior dog who spent the bulk of his life tethered on a chain. Before being rescued in mid-January, the dog, a Labrador retriever mix named “Bear,” spent his days living outside because his original family wanted him to protect their property. Thankfully, Bear’s former life is nothing but a distant memory and today, he is a beloved indoor companion to a Long Island woman who adopted him.

On Valentine’s Day, Guardians of Rescue (the agency which freed Bear from his chain), posted several pictures showing a very happy Bear, who is clearly reveling in his new life. The rescue group wrote:

What a wonderful life this incredible dog now has!
Lots of love, comfy beds, a warm fireplace to sleep by, walks, treats, toys and more! He may have spent fifteen years on a chain, but that is all behind him. Bear is living a happy, great life now!

Bear is spending his days with his adoring new owner, Kerrie Rosenfeld. Rosenfeld set her sights on Bear after she saw multiple media reports about the senior dog who needed a home after being freed from his chain – she told Inside Edition, “my heart just leaped and I thought, I have to adopt him!”

Bear’s days of being chained are long gone – today he has free rein over the house, and as much unconditional love as his big heart can handle. Without question, the remainder of Bear’s life is going to involve lots of hugs, comfort, love and joy.

Bear’s fans (he gained quite a following after being freed from his chain) can keep up with him on Instagram, bear_the_dog_unchained.

Wow! Thanks for posting this happy ending. Thank you to the Guardians of Rescue and to the wonderful adopter who opened her heart and home to Bear. Bear is very forgiving of humans. Wishing all the love and kindness he deserves in his forever home.
