Lucky Shelter Dogs Get To Enjoy An Amazing Pool Party

Arizona is currently in the grips of a sweltering heat wave – in the midst of the scorching temperatures, eight lucky shelter dogs, from the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control facility, were able to enjoy a refreshingly cool outing at an area pet resort’s pool.

The Second Home Pet Resort in Phoenix hosted the lucky pups on Monday – the dogs and their chaperones were at the pet resort enjoying not only playtime in the pool but filming a news segment about pool safety with pets. The pool at the pet resort is perfect for pooches – just 18 inches deep with gently sloped sides for easy canine navigation.

The dogs who visited the resort were all paws on deck for some water-time fun in the sun. Suffice to say, playtime in and around the pool was a welcome respite from the day-to-day doldrums of shelter life.

The animal shelter has been helping all of the homeless shelter dogs escape from the extreme heat – thanks to the support of the local community, dogs who are confined to kennel runs at the facility get to cool down thanks to their own personal pools which have been donated by area residents. On Monday night, the Facebook page for the shelter posted a thank you to the generous donors:

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated items from our summer wish list! We’ve already started distributing pools, cooling pads, cooling bandanas and more at both our shelters. Here’s a look at a few dogs at our West shelter staying cool on this scorching day thanks to YOU all! 😎 ☀️ ❤️

At this point, we have received an AMAZING amount of support and are so, so grateful to our community! We will post if/when additional items are needed.
