NFL Player And Bride Asked For Donations To Animal Shelter In Lieu Of Gifts

Recently, a couple tied the knot in St. Lucia, at the Jade Mountain Resort. During their stay in the Caribbean destination area, they encountered a friendly stray dog who inspired them to make a special request to friends and family.

It was NFL player, Logan Ryan, a Tennessee Titans cornerback, and his 26-year-old bride, Ashley Bragg, who were inspired by the dogs that they met while in St. Lucia for their nuptials.

In an Instagram post, Ryan explained how one dog in particular motivated them to do something special:

While taking some wedding photos in the St.Lucian town of Soufriere we ran into this stray dog and many others like her. This one in particular followed us thru the streets for 20 plus minutes. When we flew back to the states we were determined to help any way possible.

The couple decided that they wanted friends and family to donate to Help Animal Welfare, a dog rescue group based in St. Lucia, in lieu of sending them wedding gifts. Ryan and his bride didn’t just ask others for donations to the rescue organization, they personally donated to the animal welfare agency as well.

Later, they learned that the friendly pup who set everything in motion had received a helping hand. Ryan took to Instagram to explain:

Just got word back that based on our picture they found this particular mama dog, named her Logan, and the donation paid for her Spay!!

In Mid-June, the rescue group let its Facebook followers know about the couple’s good deed, and about the pup they helped:

Our famous and lucky girl who was named Logan found her way to Logan Ryan and his wife Ashley Ryan on the streets of Soufrière. Thanks to them, we were able to take her in to our foster care, and today she got spayed!

They added:

She is a wonderful dog and all she wants is love, and then some more love ❤️. She is a very social and a happy-go-lucky pup and she will be ready for adoption very soon!

The couple’s act of compassion was not lost on Ryan’s Instagram followers, who left words of praise about the good deed which made a direct impact on the homeless dogs in St. Lucia.

Nice to see that the NFL has at least one player who is NOT a criminal animal abuser and shows compassion for the less fortunate animals who are abandoned in our public animal shelters.

Fantastic people who care about the lives of our stray animals….and are much more appreciated that they would want to help save lives and find homes for animals rather than receive material items as gifts.
