Shelter Implored Thieves To Return Puppy Who Was Stolen

A shelter in South Carolina, which was desperate for the safe return of a puppy who was stolen from its facility, created a heartfelt letter to help bring the missing puppy back where he belonged.  On Wednesday, the Greenville Humane Society utilized Facebook to implore the thieves to return the puppy, named “Finn,” citing his recent surgery, and need for vaccinations.

In a lengthy Facebook post, the shelter reminded the thief that puppies are “fragile and precious” animals who are unable to provide themselves with care.  The shelter implored whoever has the puppy to be aware that he is recovering from surgery, and in need of more vaccinations:

Finn is still in recovery from his neuter surgery and is at risk of an infection. He also needs several more rounds of vaccinations. For his protection, please keep him away from other animals until the rest have been taken care of.

The post, signed “Staff and Volunteers of the Greenville Humane Society, wraps up with a simple, heartfelt request:

We are not sure what your motive was or what the future you have planned for Finn is. We are hoping with all of our hearts that you intend to care for him and that if you find you can’t, you will do the right thing and return him to us. We love our animals dearly and are heartbroken over this loss.

Just one day after the impassioned letter, directed at those responsible for taking the puppy, the shelter updated Facebook followers with heartwarming news of Finn’s return.

Look who is back safe and sound! We are so grateful to the Greenville City Police and Sheriff’s Office for their quick and safe recovery of our sweet Finn! Thank you to all who shared his story and helped make his return possible! We are so thrilled to have Finn back!

Don’t know who took the pup or why but the fact that they returned him is wonderful and I applaud their sensible and kind decision. It takes a big person to admit a mistake and make it right. Kudos to the folks that formed the plea for safe return.
