Sweet Stray Cat Friendly and Loving Even After Cruel Abuse

Brooklyn licking a volunteer

Brooklyn, ironically, is from Chicago. This sweet young cat was a stray, hanging around outside near a bar. She got some petting, but no one took her home. Instead, someone took advantage of her gentle and trusting nature and abused her.

That person cut off her ears.

Those who are caring for her wrote that, “It’s almost as if they were docking them to look like a docked dog’s ears. They are starting to heal (with antibiotics), but they look even more horrific in person.”

Incredibly, and in spite of the barbaric cruelty inflicted on her by humans, Brooklyn remains loving and affectionate. She has a constant purr that rumbles through her body nonstop. She even licks people to show her affection. She only flinches when someone gets too close to her ears.

Lucky Brooklyn is in the loving care of Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control (FCACC) They have gotten her the medical treatment she needed, including laser treatments.

On the Facebook post for Brooklyn, FCACC wrote:

“Life hasn’t been easy for this little girl, but things are starting to look up. For all the bad folks in the world, there are many more good ones.”

They also noted that because of the damage to her ears, Brooklyn will require ongoing vet checks in addition to standard vetting. If you are able to donate to support her care, please do! Her YouCaring page is accepting donations.  There is more information on her Facebook thread.
